What kind of fun would you like to have when you turn 101 years old? You stretch it out and have a little fun several times a day and for several days. Too much fun, at one time, is too much fun. Now, I'm really not sure if it is too much fun for the Birthday Girl or for the people around her having the fun. But, anyway, we have celebrated for Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-62647915944007643162010-05-17T23:32:00.006-04:002010-05-20T17:37:32.949-04:00The Seven Year Itch
Did I ever tell you how I got the seven year itch? (giggle, giggle) The doctor lived right across the street from us. He and I were good friends. I used to drive him and his wife to Charleston once in a while. They had to go down there to get drugs from the drug house because we didn’t have a drug store at that time in Yemassee. He said that he and his wife would go to sleep if they drove down Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-16139830685004262652010-05-05T17:42:00.003-04:002010-05-20T17:35:50.388-04:00Friends
Friends are like the chocolate chips in cookies. Friends carry us through the day because we can always pull up in our memory bank a pleasant moment, a good laugh, a smile, a hug, fun times, sad times, and times of endearment. Miss Katherine has been blessed beyond measure with good friends. In order to have a good friend, you must be a good friend. You cannot just hang on to a few Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-63553798334725856882010-04-30T05:09:00.003-04:002010-05-20T17:34:35.153-04:00My Eyes Were OpenedWhen I was working at the vitamin place in Orlando, I met this woman who came in to buy vitamins. We sold to the vitamin stores, but they would let people come in to just buy vitamins and other stuff. One day this woman came in to buy vitamins and she asked me if I knew about the spiritualist at that place out there by Orlando. I told her I had heard about it but I never was Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-49806715607410085082010-04-29T02:58:00.004-04:002010-05-20T17:32:01.713-04:00Bootleg, Moonshine and White LighteningIn South Carolina, a lot of people were making bootleg whiskey with a homemade still. Well, I guess some are still doing bootleg whiskey. There are doing it everywhere. I think they are still doing it around Jacksonville. But anyway, I had this good friend, Pearl Hydrick, and her husband, Tom Hydrick was a revenuer and he searched for people who made that bootleg Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-90700859043060920652010-04-29T01:57:00.002-04:002010-05-20T17:30:34.634-04:00Lloyd, Jr., My Nephew
This was a difficult story for Miss Katherine to talk about. She still keeps the baby picture of Lloyd Jr. on her dresser, as she has done for the past seventy-four years. Among her memories, I think this is one of the most upsetting for her to talk about.
My brother, Lloyd Sr., had a son, Lloyd, Jr., and he was the prettiest little boy. He was 13 years old when heRoma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-27010560867352632292010-04-12T23:59:00.002-04:002010-05-20T17:28:40.857-04:00I Can Do It
As I mentioned previously, Miss Katherine is a versatile and talented woman. Both her parents seemed to be talented and resourceful, as well. Her mother, Winifred Mozelle Brant, was talented in the kitchen, taking care of the house and hotel, sewing, crocheting embroidering and she was called upon by the local mercantile store to decorate and trim ladies hats. All this, plus running a small farmRoma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-78477572542077872402010-04-10T22:13:00.002-04:002010-05-20T17:26:38.278-04:00President and Mrs. Roosevelt
Miss Katherine loves to tell stories, especially of her childhood and the way things were in the early 1900's. Her mind is sharp and she is always thinking, or some people may call worrying, about things that may or may not happen. She likes to know all the details. If you are telling her something and you do not tell her all the detail, who, what, when, where and why, then she will think Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-47064408573634755222010-04-07T23:49:00.002-04:002010-05-20T17:22:17.764-04:00Leonie Crosby, the BarberOne thing about Miss Katherine, she always had good advice to give. One day when my husband came to see her, she said, "Raymond, do you keep your money in your back pockets of your pants?"
Raymond, slightly perplexed, said, "No, why do you ask?" Miss Katherine, giggled a little then said, "Well, let me tell you about a friend of mine who stayed at my Mama's hotel in Yemassee. Today was a special day and if all possible Katherine Brant was going to Sunday School and Church at the First Baptist Church Downtown Jacksonville.
We were so happy that she was able to go to church last Wednesday night, March 31,2010. This was a special and exciting time for her because on Wednesday nights our church meets in the smaller sanctuary, The Ruth Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2294500354353356146.post-34747536439492772532010-04-04T21:17:00.002-04:002010-05-20T17:21:43.540-04:00Time Marches On

With every tick of the clock we are drawn closer to our final destination. Some have a very short ride while others have a ride that seems to go on forever. We do not know the time nor the hour our clock will tick for the very Roma Berryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02468409976926838855noreply@blogger.com1
